We sat down with three of these legends, Maryam, Michael, and Daniel so you can get to know them better.

Maryam Iyaye

    • What are you bringing to Splend, Maryam, what’s your background?

Previously I worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car as a management trainee. Before that, I was at the University of Essex and graduated with a BSc in Management and Marketing.

I’ve been working here at Splend a little over a year.

    • What do you enjoy about working at Splend?

It’s definitely the people—the company culture here is great. Everyone has made me feel very welcome and the team environment is great. I also really enjoy getting to know my members. I get to meet and interact with people from all walks of life.

    • Where might we find you when you’re not at work?

Hanging out with friends and family. I also love going out for nice meals and exploring new cultures on holiday.

    • What’s your favourite movie?

There are too many good films to choose from, however, I do have a favourite TV show, Grey’s Anatomy, currently at season 16.

    • What is your favourite place in the world?

My favourite place I’ve visited is Thailand—maybe because it was also my longest holiday, four weeks.

Michael Smith

    • What are you bringing to Splend, Michael, what’s your background?

I’ve worked in and around the taxi industry for 8 years and I’ve had the pleasure of learning a lot during that time.

One thing I’ve learned over my journey is that customer focus is key, so I’m excited to work closely with Splend members and provide them with the quality service that Splend is known for.

This is the sole reason that I joined the team.

    • Where might we find you when you’re not at work?

In and around sport. Mainly watching, but always happy to jump in too.

I’m an outdoors person and also an avid gamer – not the most common combo, I know.

    • What’s your favourite food?

My wife’s lamb curry with homemade chapatis. Nothing beats it, but I have to go for a run after it to burn those calories off!

    • What’s your favourite chocolate bar?

Wispa Gold.

    • What’s your favourite car, and why?

I have never driven one, but an E-Type Jaguar would be my all-time favourite. It’s such a great car to look at.

From a work point of view, I love the Toyota Corolla Hybrid since it’s got that extra boot space, which is so handy for rideshare and delivery.

Daniel Russell

    • What are you bringing to Splend, Dan, what’s your background?

I’ve had a few roles in my career before Splend, ranging from accountancy right through to a senior travel consultant.

At my previous job, I worked two years in the recruitment space in the city, specialising in application development.

I’ve been with Splend for more than a year now, which has gone so quick – time flies when you’re having fun! 

    • What do you enjoy most about working at Splend?

I love the fast-paced environment and getting to meet so many people from all different areas of the world.

    • Where might we find you when you’re not at work?

I have an 8-year-old daughter, Ava, so I spend most of my spare time with her. Also, I like socialising with my friends or training in the gym.

    • Who would be your top three dinner party invitees?

Paolo Di Canio (Westham fan, unfortunately, haha), Demi Rose, and Dr. Dre.

    • What’s your favourite holiday destination?

Ibiza will always be up there as I’ve had some pretty special times on the island. But the ultimate one has to be Las Vegas. There’s always lots to see and it really is the best place to party on Earth.
