Bolt has announced a Zero Emission Transition pilot which will help 500 rideshare drivers to own an electric car with Splend.

Bolt, Europe’s leading mobility platform and one of the biggest ride-hailing services in London, is launching a Zero Emission Transition pilot, a £250,000 commitment to facilitate its drivers to own an electric car.

Bolt surveyed its drivers and found that purchase prices were among the most important factors that discouraged them from upgrading, outweighing benefits such as fuel savings and the Congestion Charge exemption.

To help those who want to become Bolt drivers overcome the cost barrier, Bolt has partnered with Splend to offer drivers a comprehensive package to make electric cars more affordable.

Details of the financial package will be announced soon.

Alongside the financial support, Bolt will be educating drivers to help them transition to the new technology and dispel any misconceptions about electric car ownership. Bolt has also partnered with ubitricity for installing new EV charging points across London’s residential areas to help drivers charge their cars close to their homes.

Bolt’s Zero Emission Transition pilot will complement the rideshare provider’s current carbon-offsetting initiative in Europe.
