We enable you to make money by driving. And not just ridesharing. There’s a world of other opportunities out there and if you think outside the box, driving is as versatile as you make it.

As far as on-demand gigs go, you can do so much more with your car than just PCO driving. Once you have a good car, you have a powerful tool on your hands to earn an income. Rideshare driving is just one of many.

In times of low demand or if you just need a change of pace, you can use your car to do courier work such as parcel- or food deliveries.

Check out our list with some of the most popular delivery apps in London and top up your rideshare income:

Courier and parcel delivery

CitySprint / special Splend offer

CitySprint is the UK’s leading courier and logistics company offering same-day, next-day, and international delivery services. You can use your own car to make local deliveries on a schedule of your choice.

All Splend members will be fast-tracked onto CitySprint’s platform.

Requirements to drive with CitySprint:

  • National Insurance Number
  • Passport or other evidence to support your right to work in the UK
  • Full driver’s license
  • Valid MoT and car insurance (SDP for cars and Hire and Reward for vans or motorcycles)
  • Smartphone (iOS 11 or above / Android 6.0 or above)

Signing up to drive with CitySprint:

  • Sign up online – remember you will be fast tracked as a Splend member
  • Wait for a response to your application (they usually reply by the end of the next working day)

Uber Work Hub

As an effort to connect drivers with new work opportunities, Uber just launched the Work Hub with their first partner—online retailer Ocado.

Requirements to drive with Work Hub:

  • The Work Hub is accessible via your Uber Driver app, so if you’re an active Uber driver, you’re automatically eligible to work on the Work Hub platform too.

How it works:

  • If Uber Eats is in your city, you can turn on delivery requests with a single tap in the Driver app.

Amazon Flex

Amazon Flex allows you to earn money by delivering to Amazon customers in London. You’re the last link in the delivery chain, which means you help Amazon deliver its packages from its regional centres to customers.

Requirements to drive with Amazon Flex:

  • 18 years or older
  • Full UK driver’s license
  • UK National Insurance
  • Valid MoT and car insurance
  • UK bank account
  • Passport or other evidence to support your right to work in the UK

Signing up to drive with Amazon Flex:

  1. Download the app for iOS or Android and sign up
  2. Enter your tax information (your background check may take 3-5 days)
  3. Watch the Amazon Flex video and take the quiz (it takes about 30 minutes)

Hermes

Hermes is one of the UK’s largest parcel delivery companies. You can sign up as self-employed, use your own car to do deliveries, and there’s no limit on how many parcels you can deliver. You also get a Field Manager to support and guide you, similar to your Member Success Representative at Splend.

Requirements to drive with Hermes:

  • Passport or other evidence to support your right to work in the UK
  • Driver’s license
  • Recent DBS check
  • Full driver’s license
  • Valid MoT and car insurance

Signing up to drive with Hermes:

  1. Sign up online
  2. Fill out your application form
  3. Check your inbox for a receipt confirming that they’ve received your application

Yodel

Yodel can offer you between 30-120 parcels a day, up to six days a week (Monday to Saturday), giving you plenty of opportunity to earn an income.

Requirements to drive with Yodel:

  • Full driver’s license
  • Valid MoT and car insurance
  • Smartphone

Signing up to drive with Yodel:

Stuart

With Stuart you can either book time slots and be eligible for an Hourly Minimum Guarantee, or earn based on the distance you’ve driven by simply going online when and where it suits you. You get your payments via direct bank transfer every week. You can start working within 72 hours of signing up

Requirements to drive with Stuart:

  • 18 years or older
  • Driver’s license
  • Valid MoT and car insurance
  • Passport or other evidence to support your right to work in the UK
  • Smartphone (iOS 10 or above / Android 5.0 or above)

Signing up to drive with Stuart:

  1. Sign up online
  2. Take the online training course and pass a short quiz
  3. Download the app for iOS or Android

Gophr

Gophr is currently focused on London and the Greater London area. If you’ve got the car, Gophr has got a job for you. Applying takes just over 3 minutes.

Requirements to drive with Gophr:

  • Driver’s license
  • No criminal record
  • Valid MoT and car insurance

Signing up to drive with Gophr:

  1. Sign up online
  2. Answer some quick questions about yourself
  3. Send off your application and wait for Gophr’s approval
  4. Download the app for iOS or Android

Street Stream

As a Street Stream courier you have the freedom to set your own rates, hours and even the postcode areas you want to cover.

Once you’ve registered and gone through Street Stream’s verification process, you can receive job details through the mobile app. You receive payments weekly via Stripe

Requirements to drive with Street Stream:

  • Driver’s license
  • Valid MoT and car insurance
  • iPhone 5s or newer

Appjobs

You can always find more gigs on Appjobs. Just enter your location and select Delivery or Driving from the category list. From errand running to picking up and delivering laundry to customers all across London, the list is quite diverse, so you can cherry-pick whatever fits you best.

Food delivery and shopping

Uber Eats

Uber Eats is an online food ordering and delivery platform. You can use your own car and work as much or as little as you want—even for an hour or less at a time. If you set up Flex Pay you receive our payments in 48 hours. If you’re already an Uber driver you’re automatically eligible for Uber Eats too.

Requirements to drive with Uber Eats:

  • 18 years or older
  • Full EU/UK driver’s license
  • Bank statement from within the past 3 months
  • Valid MoT and car insurance (hire and reward – not excluding food delivery)
  • UK bank account
  • Passport or other evidence to support your right to work in the UK

Signing up to drive with Uber Eats:

Shift

Shift is an on-demand shopping and delivery platform where you can earn an average of £10/hour delivering groceries for customers on the app. Shift will send you a shopping list and wire the funds required to your nominated card, and then you can buy the items and drop them off at the customer’s house.

Shift will match your home postal address with jobs near you so you can drive less and earn more.

Requirements to drive with Shift:

  • 18 years or older
  • Full EU/UK driver’s license
  • Valid MoT and car insurance (hire and reward – not excluding food delivery)
  • Bank account
  • Passport or other evidence to support your right to work in the UK

Signing up to drive with Shift:

Deliveroo

Deliveroo works with some of the biggest chain restaurants across the UK, with some of them available exclusively on the Deliveroo app. As a driver you have access to some useful perks such as free international money transfers and partner discounts, and a referral program with cash bonuses.

  • Passport or other evidence to support your right to work in the UK
  • Smartphone (iOS 11 or above / Android 6.0 or above)

Signing up to drive with Deliveroo:

Beelivery

Beelivery is a shopping service where the customer can order convenience store products, delivered to their home. Once you accept a job you have 90 minutes to buy the items and deliver them to the customer.

You’re paid on a per-delivery basis, usually ranging between £7 – £20 depending on the distance and the size of the order.

Requirements to drive with Beelivery:

  • 18 years or older
  • Valid MoT and car insurance
  • Smartphone (iOS 8 or above / Android 6.0 or above)

Signing up to drive with Beelivery:

TaskRabbit

As a Tasker you can choose from a multitude of delivery jobs, from groceries to take out food, or even more complex tasks such as errand running.

The TaskRabbit app notifies you of potential jobs nearby. You just need to select the one you want to complete, confirm details with your client and you’re ready to earn.

Requirements to drive with TaskRabbit:

  • 18 years or older
  • Valid MoT and car insurance
  • Passport or other evidence to support your right to work in the UK
  • Smartphone (iOS 11 or above / Android 4.4 or above)
